Oulun kaupunki ja Suomen luonnonsuojeluliiton Oulun yhdistys järjestävät yhteistyössä vieraskasvitalkoita kaupungin yleisillä alueilla. Vieraskasvitalkoissa torjutaan haitalliseksi vieraskasvilajiksi luokiteltua jättipalsamia. Vieraskasvit tukahduttavat alleen alueen alkuperäisen kasvuston ja vievät niiltä elintilaa. Vieraskasvien torjunta on tärkeää luonnon monimuotoisuuden säilyttämiseksi. Talkoot ovat kaikille avoimia ja ne kestävät 2-3 tuntia. Et tarvitse aiempaa kokemusta, ohjeistus annetaan paikan päällä.
Kokoonnumme Meri-Toppilan leikkipuistossa klo. 17, mistä siirrymme yhdessä ojan varteen kitkemään. Kitkemme yläjuoksun suunnalta kohti alajuoksua, rajoittaaksemme jättipalsamin
leviämisaluetta. Kitkemisen lomassa pidämme evästauon.
Rantalehdossa saattaa ilta-aikaan olla paljon hyttysiä: tälle kohteelle hyttyshuppu olisi tosi hyvä, varsinkin jos olet hyttysille mieluisaa sorttia. Varaudu ainakin suojaamaan ihoasi hyvin vaatteilla.

Ilmoita viestissä osallistujien määrä sekä mahdolliset allergiat. Voit ilmoittautua samalla kertaa useampiin talkoisiin. Jos tulette porukalla, voitte ilmoittaa samalla lomakkeella useita henkilöitä. Ilmoittautumiset kerätään, jotta osaamme varata riittävästi talkooevästä. Ilmoittautuminen ei ole sitova, ja tietoja ei säilytetä talkoiden jälkeen.
Mukaan tarvitset: juomapullon täytettynä, kumisaappaat, pitkälahkeiset housut ja takki, sekä työhanskat. Halutessasi voit ottaa myös esimerkiksi hyttyshupun.
Talkoolaisille tarjotaan eväät. Talkoiden aikana tapahtuvien tapaturmien varalle on talkoolaisille voimassa talkoovakuutus.

The city of Oulu and The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation Oulu department are joining together to arrange Invasive Plant species Bee in the public areas of the city. In the Invasive Plant species Bee, we combat the invasive species himalayan balsam. Invasive species overtake areas from native species. Combatting invasive species is important in order to conserve biodiversity. The events are open for everyone and they last about 2-3 hours. You don’t need previous experience, instructions are given on site.
We meet at the Meri-Toppilan keskusleikkipuisto park at 5 pm. From there, we walk together to our working area by the stream. We pick from upstream towards downstream, to limit the spread
of the himalayan balsam. Between working, we take a snack break.
It’s possible that there are a lot of mosquitos in the leafy coastal woods in the evenings. A mosquito hat would be great for this sight, especially if they tend to like you. At least be prepared
to cover your skin well with clothes.

In the email, tell how many people are coming and possible allergies or dietary restrictions. You can register to multiple events at once. If you come with a group, you can register multiple people with the same form. We are gathering registrations, so that we could estimate how much food to bring. Registration is non-binding, and we don’t keep your information after the events.
Bring with you: a water bottle, rubber boots, long pants to protect from mosquitos and nettles, jacket, gloves. If you want, you can also bring a mosquito hat.
Volunteers are provided a snack. During the events, volunteers are insured by the organiser in the case of accidents or medical needs that may occur during working.
